Pay Range: Commensurate based on education and experience

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (may include some weekends)

Travel: May be required

Position Introduction:

The Office of Career Development at OU Law is looking for a full-time permanent staff member for our team. The addition is critical to preserving OU Law's top-tier employment outcomes and enhancing our national ranking, both of which directly influence the College's reputation, admissions competitiveness, and funding potential.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides a variety of career counseling services to law students. May supervise staff and student employees.
  • Evaluates/assesses needs of OU Law students, employers, the Office of Career Development, and external stakeholders, and creates responsive initiatives, programming, and employer outreach strategies to improve student employment outcomes and experiences.
  • Develops alumni and employer outreach programs to expand services for specific populations of law students, including those seeking employment in Texas and states associated with the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
  • Conducts workshops, presentations, and other programming, including professional development programming, for current law students.
  • Provides assistance and instruction to law students and graduates on development of professional resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and communication.
  • Educates students on services offered by the Office of Career Development, including the primary career service platform, 12Twenty.
  • Assists students with both during-JD and post-graduate job searches, contract negotiations, and completion of the American Bar Association Graduate Outcome survey.
  • Serves as a faculty/staff liaison by coordinating strategic outreach efforts and to expand career and professional development services for law students.
  • Manages and maintains CDO's employer database and job resource portal 12Twenty, as well as online CDO resource materials and other resource materials.
  • May supervise one or more full time staff members and/or student employees.
  • Serves as a Project Manager for Office of Career Development initiatives and programs.
  • Represents the Office of Career Development at various events, including employer-hosted student networking events, University-wide events, and targeted employer networking opportunities.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Will need valid driver’s license to travel to various events and prospective employer visits.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 36 months in student advising, student services, or closely related experience.

Department Preferences:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Law firm or legal-adjacent experience preferred.
