Position Introduction:

We are looking for a Graduate Assistant to lead the Enrollment Management Communications “Comm” Center. The Communications Center is a group of current OU students who make phone calls to prospective high school students and families, letting them know about the wonderful opportunities available at OU. This is NOT a money solicitation or fundraising call center. The phone calls these current students make are a vital part of OU’s recruitment efforts (and a very fun supervisory role for the GA!). The Graduate Assistant will oversee the Comm Center, build call campaigns, write call scripts, research communication strategies and expected outcomes, and coordinate professional development opportunities for our current student callers. The Comm Center is typically open after hours, so OU students can call high school students in the afternoon and evening. If you are looking for leadership and supervisory experience, as well as student development, this is the perfect GA position for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, motivate and manage a student staff of 15 who make calls to prospective students.
  • Calls include qualifying students’ interest in OU, reminders about applying for admission, invitations to on and off-campus recruitment events, and explanation of next steps post-admission.
  • Coordinate payroll and ensure accuracy with hours and pay.
  • Develop proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to implement query-building methodologies, ensuring the optimization of call lists for student engagement.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive professional development series to enhance the collaborative skills and professional growth of current students.
  • Research communication strategies and expected outcomes to reinforce recruiting efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with admissions counselors and senior Admissions and Recruitment staff to ensure that calls are being made with proper script and to correct students, including writing call scripts for student callers.
  • Ensure students are calling in a professional manner and serve as a resource to follow up on questions students may pose.
  • GA will report to the Associate Director of Enrollment Management Communications.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Must be current OU Graduate Student and enrolled in the semester worked.

Skills:

  • We are looking for someone who likes to lead and motivate students
  • Has experience and skills in the areas of: research, planning, leadership development, and training
  • Great copywriting skills and strong creative
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and take on new projects
