Pay Range: Targeted salary $15.87 hourly, based on experience

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., overtime for peak periods and football/special events required.

Travel: Not required

Position Introduction

Traffic Management: A parking attendant will play a crucial role in managing traffic flow within our campus parking lots. By directing vehicles efficiently, they will reduce congestion, prevent unauthorized parking, and ensure a smoother experience for students, faculty, and visitors.

Customer Service: Our parking attendants will serve as the first point of contact for anyone arriving on campus. Their friendly demeanor, helpfulness, and ability to address inquiries will create a positive impression and enhance overall satisfaction.

Parking Enforcement: With a dedicated attendant, we can enforce parking regulations consistently. This includes monitoring permit compliance, issuing citations when necessary, and maintaining order in our parking areas.

Safety and Security: A parking attendant contributes to campus safety by promptly identifying and addressing any security concerns. They can assist during emergencies, guide visitors to safe areas, and report suspicious activities.

Event Support: During special events, such as sports games, concerts, or conferences, a parking attendant will be invaluable. They can efficiently direct traffic, manage overflow parking, and ensure event attendees find suitable parking spaces.

Accessibility Assistance: Our attendant can assist individuals with disabilities by providing accessible parking options and ensuring compliance with ADA regulations.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 12 months customer service/contact experience.

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's license to drive university vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of the hire date.

Department Preferences

  • 1 year or more customer service experience.
  • Familiar with OU's Norman campus.
  • Previous experience working outdoors.
