Position Introduction:

This position will be working with the Digital Fabrication (DF) services unit at OU Libraries. Workers in this position will assist members of the DF unit to augment the research and instruction lifecycle through the use of technologies like 3D Printing, 3D Scanning, Virtual and Augmented Reality. Successful applicants will develop competencies in a variety of emerging technologies through their work.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Summer/Fall semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current status.

Duties:

  • Follow workflows established by DF including
  • Starting and monitoring 3D prints
  • 3D printer troubleshooting, diagnosis, and maintenance
  • Documenting projects under DF guidance for preservation and/or publication
  • Coordinating and overseeing virtual and augmented reality sessions
  • Assisting with course integrations
  • Maintaining functionality of the DF virtual reality equipment
  • Developing 3D models to provide solutions for the DF unit needs
  • Data entry related to DF projects and processes
  • Basic PC troubleshooting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Must communicate effectively in written and oral English
  • Successful applicants will be able to effectively communicate with novices on technical subjects
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must practice effective time management skills and maintain a professional appearance and manner
  • Willingness to learn and interact with new unfamiliar technology

Department Preferences:

  • At least 10 hours available to work per week
  • Prior experience in 3D printing and virtual reality is not required but demonstrated ability to learn quickly is preferred
