Pay Range: Targeted salary of $10.00-15.00 per hour, based on experience

Benefits Eligible: No

Work Schedule: Varies depending on student availability. Blocks of 2-4 hours Mon-Friday 8-5.

Travel: Not required

Position Introduction:

The Student Office Assistant provides support for administrative operations within OU IT. This position offers hands-on experience in higher education administration, HR support, event coordination, and office operations. This is not a technical job within IT.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with job postings and tracking applications
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate candidate communications
  • Support onboarding preparation and documentation
  • Assist with event planning and engagement activities
  • Perform general office duties (filing, copying, data entry, organizing documents)
  • Run occasional campus errands
  • Place catering orders and assist with meeting setup
  • Answer phones and greet visitors
  • Provide additional administrative support as assigned

Skills:

  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write clear, concise English
  • Must practice effective time management skills
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative/team environment
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Must be proactive in finding solutions
  • Must effectively problem solve, seeking out and finding appropriate solutions

Department Preferences:

  • Prior office or customer service experience
  • Interest in administration, HR, business, or event planning
