Pay Range: Targeted salary up to $22.50/hr, based on experience

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Introduction:

The First-Year Composition Program, a semi-autonomous program within the Department of English, serves approximately 4,600 students annually and supports 25 full-time lecturers, 6-8 adjunct faculty members, and approximately 50 graduate student instructors. A Director, Associate Director, and three Assistant Directors lead the Program.

The Administrative/Financial Coordinator provides professional administrative, financial, and operational support to the Director of First-Year Composition and the Program. This position plays an integral role in the Program's day-to-day operations, including budget management, grants and endowments, financial administration, payroll, human resources, travel, purchasing, classroom scheduling, faculty processes, and program events. The position serves as the primary liaison with the Shared Business Services Center and works closely with the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office and other university offices.

In addition to supporting First-Year Composition, this position serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the Department of English, providing administrative coordination for the department's graduate program and working closely with the Graduate Liaison, graduate faculty, and graduate students.

Essential Duties

  • Serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the Department of English, coordinating graduate program processes, requirements, records, and deadlines and serving as an administrative resource for graduate students and faculty.
  • Coordinates curriculum, course, and programmatic changes through university request and approval systems and provides administrative support for graduate student instructors.
  • Coordinates and manages the First-Year Composition Program budget in collaboration with the Director, including expenditures, reconciliations, grants, endowments, budget planning, and financial reporting.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with the Shared Business Services Center for financial, payroll, human resources, purchasing, and travel activities and monitors transactions through completion.
  • Provides professional administrative and operational support to First-Year Composition leadership, including correspondence, reports, meetings, confidential records, and other program activities.
  • Coordinates classroom and academic scheduling for the First-Year Composition Program.
  • Coordinates administrative processes for faculty progression and faculty searches, including required documentation, scheduling, interviews, and related activities.
  • Plans and coordinates Program meetings, special events, and activities, including logistics, purchasing, travel, vendors, and communications.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office, University College, Shared Business Services Center, and other university departments and offices to support program operations.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, or related field.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
