Pay Range: Targeted Salary $60,400 annually, based on experience

Position Introduction:

The Sooner Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory's Machinist Supervisor will support the fabrication and integration of components using additive and traditional manufacturing equipment available in the lab. This individual will program and operate various metal additive manufacturing, and CNC machines to produce finished components, fixturing, and tooling integral to the production of various engineering systems. This individual will also assist in electrical and mechanical integration to support research projects and educational activities.

• Manages assigned technical projects, to include but not limited to planning, implementing, monitoring all technical activities, coordinating with the appropriate personnel, and ensuring data collection and documentation.
• Maintains shared databases of trouble reports, vendors, and projects.
• Maintains files, service log, instruction manuals, vendor catalogs, software licenses, and instrument/component data books.
• Assists with organizing parts, supplies, and tools in the Machine shop.
• Supervises personnel and student technicians, providing training as needed.
• Assigns tasks, communicates with faculty and researchers, and provides timely estimates of anticipated project completion time.
• Implements and monitors safety procedures including condition of equipment.
• Procures consumable equipment components for the machinist shop.
• Assists with procurement of test instrumentation for machinist shop and analytical instrumentation for the department.
• Trouble shoots and repairs instrumentation using appropriate test instruments, tools, and components.
• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma, GED, Vo-Tech, or Trade School Certification.
• 36 months experience in Engineering, Electronics or as a Machinist.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.

Department Preferences:

• Understanding of additive manufacturing, especially metal-related.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion.
• Proficiency in machining operations, cutter geometrics based on materials, orders
  of operations, and concepts.
• Proficiency reading and understanding mechanical diagrams and schematics.
