Position Introduction:

The Staff Research Assistant will support research focused on tissue engineering, 3D bioprinting, cell printing, and cellular physiology. The individual will contribute to the development and characterization of engineered tissue constructs, optimization of biofabrication strategies, and investigation of cellular responses within biomimetic microenvironments. The position requires expertise in mammalian cell culture, biomaterials, bioprinting technologies, microscopy, and quantitative analysis to advance translational research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and perform experiments involving 3D bioprinting, cell printing, and biofabrication of engineered tissue constructs.
• Optimize bioinks, hydrogel formulations, extrusion parameters, crosslinking conditions, and construct architecture for cellular applications.
• Conduct mammalian cell culture, including stem cell expansion, differentiation, and functional characterization.
• Evaluate cellular physiology, including cell viability, proliferation, differentiation, cell-matrix interactions, and tissue maturation within engineered constructs.
• Perform fluorescence imaging, confocal microscopy, immunocytochemistry, and flow cytometry to assess cell fate and function.
• Develop and characterize biomaterial scaffolds and hydrogel systems for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.
• Analyze experimental data and prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, figures, and presentations.
• Maintain laboratory records, protocols, equipment, and compliance with institutional research and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with investigators and trainees on multidisciplinary projects involving biomaterials, stem cells, tissue engineering, and translational biomedical research.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, Sociology, or a related discipline aligned with the specific area of research or project focus)
• 1 year of experience supporting research or working in a laboratory setting

Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.
