Position Introduction:

Student assistants with Advancement/Sooner Club are responsible for many facets of the day-to-day operations of the office and the Sooner Club. Student assistants’ roles include, but are not limited to, answering the main lines, which involves answering donors’ questions regarding tickets, donations, parking, and various processes.

  • Responsible for membership engagement and support services for Sooner Club and Varsity O members, which includes
    email correspondence, telephone communications, and troubleshooting for over 11,000 Sooner Club members and all
    former letter winners.
  • Execute office operations including opening and closing of office, setting up our parking lot, making outbound calls to
    members to ensure their account is up-to-date, logging call conversations, refilling office supplies, managing recycling,
    and managing incoming and returned mail.
  • Student assistants contribute in numerous ways on game days with parking, operation logistics, and tailgate execution.
  • Manage the Varsity O email, producing effective communication in a timely manner.
  • Student assistants are called upon to assist with special projects within the Sooner Club and the athletics department.
    Some of the projects include donor research, proposal preparation for donor representatives, donor prospect research,
    donor relations and stewardship initiatives, creating and managing Microsoft Excel reports and letter winner database
    management.
  • A student assistant with the Sooner Club is always expected to handle donor information with care and discretion.
  • Having a vast understanding of Paciolan, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office programs is crucial.
  • Being able to create and analyze excel data are skills needed by student assistants.
  • Working in an environment that is competitive, yet inclusive, the development staff intends to contribute to the process of
    molding professionals who are ready for their next steps, post-graduation.
  • Providing many opportunities to be involved with different projects and operations allows the development staff to better
    prepare future leaders in the industry of college athletics in a way that represents the University of Oklahoma in a positive
    way.
  • Expectations include someone who is willing to work hard, maintain strong professional and ethical characteristics, and
    someone who is passionate about college athletics and the University of Oklahoma.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
