Pay Range: Targeted salary of $14.00/hour, based on education and experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Hours worked can range between 8am - 5pm on Monday-Friday each week with a total hours worked of 20-30 hours weekly
  • have the ability to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays specifically

Position Introduction:

Student Outreach & Support Representatives are ambassadors for the University of Oklahoma, the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences (AGS), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This position serves as the first point of contact, providing exceptional customer service to visitors and callers of the AGS Dean’s Office. You will be responsible for creating a positive and welcoming environment while efficiently handling inquiries and requests from faculty, staff, and students. This position is responsible for responding to and completing tasks requested by office staff, such as creating infographics, processing tour requests, tracking, and restocking inventory. This position leads solo tours of the National Weather Center, providing facts and information about the building and its partners through fun and factual storytelling. Must be able to project voice over a large group, maintain professionalism, while being engaging with the various groups who visit the NWC. This position assists the Outreach Coordinator with outreach events on-site as well as off-site, which could be out of the Norman area and be held during nights and weekends. It is expected that the person in this position will be punctual, follow rules, guidelines, and procedures. This position allows ample opportunities to gain various experiences and skills such as outreach, public speaking, communication, coordination, customer service, organization, and so much more.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
  • Must attach Fall 2026 class schedule.

***These employees will need to be U.S. Citizens in order to enter federal space accordingly for the job.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

None

Department Preferences:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in good standing (i.e., not be on academic or disciplinary probation) in the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences at the University of Oklahoma or a currently enrolled graduate student with a major in the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences.
  • Basic understanding of meteorological concepts.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent group facilitation (discussion) and coordination skills.
  • Assist periodically with outreach and recruitment events.
