If you are driven to solve complex problems, strengthen critical systems, and use technology to create lasting impact across One OU, we invite you to bring your talent, curiosity, and commitment to a team where your work matters.

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and energized by supporting others? We're looking for a Student Staffing & Development Specialist to join our team. This role involves managing scheduling, payroll, and day-to-day coordination for several dozen student employees across multiple positions and locations.

This is a high-impact position where the work directly enables our student employees to succeed in their own positions of delivering tech support to the university community. The person in this role will interact with student employees regularly by supporting the administrative/operational side of their position. While this role is housed within OU Information Technology, no previous experience with providing technical support is required or expected.

What This Position Does:

Schedule Management - Create and manage work schedules for dozens of shift-based student employees across multiple roles and locations. Handle schedule modifications and review/respond to change requests, including time-sensitive adjustments.

Time Tracking & Payroll - Review, correct, and submit timesheets for our student workforce using available software systems. Verify timesheet accuracy and ensure timely payroll processing.

Onboarding & Offboarding - Coordinate system access, privileges, and all required training for new hires. Monitor progress, track completion of requirements, and ensure a smooth transition for both incoming and departing employees.

Student Staff Supervision & Evaluation - Contribute performance insights that inform employee evaluations. May assist with staff selection and help compile evaluation data.

Qualities That Fit:

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail especially when managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proactive problem-solver who anticipates issues and finds practical solutions
  • People-focused and genuinely interested in supporting student success
  • Tech-comfortable with the ability to quickly learn new software systems
  • Flexible and adaptable in a role where schedules and priorities shift
  • Skilled communicator who can handle sensitive conversations with empathy and clarity

Experience with scheduling software, payroll systems, or student employment is a plus, but we're more interested in your approach and attitude. If you've managed schedules, coordinated teams, or supported HR functions, you likely have skills that transfer well.
