Position Introduction:

The Lead Academic Advisor for OU Online provides leadership and oversight for the Online Undergraduate Academic Advising unit at the University of Oklahoma. This unit supports adult learners enrolled in fully online undergraduate programs who are returning to higher education to complete their bachelor's degrees while balancing academic goals with work, family, and financial responsibilities. This position sets the strategic direction for online undergraduate academic advising services and leads the development of a student-centered advising model focused on academic planning, transfer credit and prior learning evaluation, and degree progression. The Lead Academic Advisor ensures proactive, consistent academic advising practices from admission through graduation in partnership with OU Educational Services (OUES) and the academic units to support timely degree completion and high-quality academic experiences. The Lead Academic Advisor serves as a campus leader in online undergraduate academic advising, identifying trends in student progress, informing continuous improvement efforts, and collaborating with institutional partners to ensure excellence in academic advising practices that support holistic student success.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 84 months of experience in academic advising/higher education.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept a Master's degree and 60 months of experience or a Doctorate and 36 months of experience.

Department Preferences:

  • Master's degree in academic advising, higher education administration, student development, or counseling preferred.
