OU Facilities is seeking a skilled and motivated Street Light Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of streetlight systems across the University of Oklahoma campus. Through OU’s PEAK Temporary Staffing program, this role offers hands‑on electrical work, daily problem‑solving, and the chance to contribute to the safety and reliability of campus infrastructure.
Working under direct supervision, you will assist with installing and inspecting streetlights, troubleshooting circuits, repairing wiring, and assembling conduit, fittings, and junction boxes. The position also supports streetlight pole setting, circuit testing, and routine maintenance tasks. You’ll use a variety of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and electrical equipment while participating in ongoing training to strengthen your technical skills.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School Certification, along with 24 months of electrical experience. Preference is given to applicants with at least six months of streetlight‑specific work. A valid Oklahoma Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one within 30 days) and a current Oklahoma electrical journeyman’s license are required.
Success in this role requires strong knowledge of electrical materials, tools, and repair methods, as well as advanced understanding of electrical codes and safety practices. The ability to read schematics, blueprints, and drawings is essential, along with the ability to identify maintenance needs and communicate effectively with supervisors.
